Microsoft Surface Computer

I showed a preview of this concept a few months ago. Like they say, from concept to reality. According to this video you can expect to see the Surface Computer in use and for sale by the end of 07.
Be sure to catch the way a digital camera interacts with this seemingly intuitive device. Look for it about 2:20 into the video.

Microsoft is offering a beta version of their street preview. It offers some interesting alternatives to the Google Street View discussed below. You can view downtown SF or Seattle.

Google maps street view

Visit Google maps and search for San Francisco. Click on the Street View button in the upper right. Move the little Google Person around on the blue streets and watch the view change.
Click in the street view and drag to rotate. Click an arrow to move N/S/E/W.
Zoom the street view and read license plates – see the faces of pedestrians.
Privacy? NO MORE!!
That said, I like it. Reminds of the long-gone A9 street view.

Watch the video demo showing a prototype device using a flexible, rollable display. These are NOT far away. Imagine how a display like this could change the shape of so many current devices. Plus, it could end up in all sorts of new locations.

Blooker Prize

Blooker Prize – annual $10,000 prize awarded to the best book of the year based on a blog.
This year’s award winner is Colby Buzzell whose book about his service in Iraq will be published by Penguin later this year.
Last year’s winner wrote about her effort to cook all 524 Julia Child recipes in one year. Her book is now being adapted to the screen by the director of “When Harry Met Sally”.
